Description

A popular comfort food in the Philippines. The sauce is a little sweeter compared to Italian spaghetti. Hot dogs are also used. Usually sprinkled with grated cheddar cheese on top.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Spaghetti Noodles
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 whole Onion, Chopped
  • 6 cloves Garlic, Peeled And Minced
  • 1 pound Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Pepper
  • 4 pieces Bay Leaves, Crushed
  • 3 cans (15 Oz. Size) Plain Tomato Sauce
  • 1 package Hotdogs Sliced 1/2 Inch Thick Diagonally (8 Or 10 Count)
  • ½ cups Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt For Taste Only
  • ½ cups Grated Cheddar Cheese (optional)

Preparation

Note: Instead of the plain tomato sauce, banana sauce is ideal (if you have it). If you use banana sauce, use 3 bottles of it, dissolved in 1 cup of water in place of the tomato sauce..

Cook noodles according to package directions.

Heat oil in pan on medium high heat. Add onion and stir until transparent. Add garlic and stir until fragrant. Add meat and once it’s cooked (brown) add oregano, pepper and bay leaves. Stir until well blended. Add tomato (or banana) sauce and bring to a boil. Lower heat, add hotdogs and brown sugar and let it simmer for 20 minutes covered. Taste and add salt if needed. Sprinkle with cheese on top.
