Description

This yeast dough is so easy, and makes the perfect pizza every time! It’s a family favorite go-to at our house.

Ingredients

  • 2-¼ teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
  • 3 teaspoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • 1-½ cup Warm Water
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 3-⅓ cups All-purpose Flour

Preparation

In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast, brown sugar and honey in the water, and let sit for 10 minutes.

Stir the salt and oil into the yeast solution. Mix in 2 1/2 cups of the flour.

Turn the dough out onto a clean, well floured surface, and knead in more flour until the dough is no longer sticky.

Place the dough into a well oiled bowl and cover with a cloth. Let the dough rise until double; this should take about 1 hour. Punch down the dough, and form a tight ball. Allow the dough to relax for a minute before rolling out.

Put your favorite pizza ingredients onto your dough. My family loves to replace the normal pizza sauce with Ranch dressing. Yes, ranch dressing. Just pour it straight from the bottle and use in place of red sauce. You won’t be disappointed!

Note: If baking your pizza on a pizza stone, you may place your toppings on the dough, and bake immediately. If you’re baking your pizza on a pan, spray the pan before putting the dough on, and then let your dough rise an additional 15-20 minutes before topping and baking.

Cook pizza at 425 F for 12-18 minutes or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly. This recipe makes 2 pizza crusts, or one giant-sized one. I usually make two thinner type crusts.

Enjoy!

I tried this crust out and my boyfriend said “never again”. He hated the sweetness of the honey and brown sugar. I didn’t think it was too bad but he found it overpowering. It did come together nicely and rose quickly…I was happy with the process, just not the unhappy boyfriend.

Excellent crust! This will be my go-to crust recipe from now on. I doubled the ingredients and used multi-grain flour that acts like all purpose white and had absolutely the best experience ever. I made 6 batches of dough, cut each into 5 sections apiece, formed them into circles and then half cooked each crust. I stacked the crusts in the freezer and will pull them out as wanted for a quick pizza dinner.
