Description

You have no idea how many times I have been making Tacos only to realize I didn’t have one of those packages of taco seasoning! Grrrrrr
I’d have to stop what I was doing and run to the store!
Until Now!

Ingredients

  • 2 Teaspoons Dehydrated Onion, Minced
  • 1 Teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin, Ground
  • 1 Teaspoon Dehydrated Garlic, Minced
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Dried Red Pepper, Crushed (Or More To Taste)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Dried Oregano

Preparation

1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and blend well.

2. Store in an air-tight container or baggie until ready to use.

To make Taco Meat Filling.

1. Brown 1 lb lean ground beef over medium-high heat- drain. (I like to toss in some diced Bell Pepper now too)

2. Add 1/2 cup water and the seasoning mix.

3. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4. Makes enough filling for 8 to 10 tacos.

5. Enjoy!!

Thanks, Dana, you helped me out in a pinch tonight! I told my family I would make taco salad and after I started cooking I realized I had no taco seasoning. That’s one of those things that is just supposed to BE in the pantry. Your recipe worked great!

I use the dehydrated minced garlic.
If your not storing it for later use, you can use fresh :)

I made this to use for the Chicken Enchilada Stuffed Shells from this site. So simple and I had all the ingredients. Don’t think I’ll ever buy the packaged stuff again.

I made a big batch of this to keep on hand and have used it for tacos, nacho meat and to make chicken crockpot tacos (also from this site). It is so much better than the packaged stuff. Thanks!
