Description

A classic favorite in pizza form!

Ingredients

  • ½ pounds Fresh Pizza Dough
  • 20  Fresh Clams (or One 6-10 Ounce Size Can Of Chopped Clams, Drained)
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 3  Shallots, Sliced
  • ½  Red Bell Pepper, Diced
  • ¼ cups Pancetta, Diced (or 3 Slices Of Bacon)
  • 1 pinch Red Pepper Flakes
  • 3 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 3 Tablespoons Parsley, Chopped
  • ½  Lemon, Juiced
  • ½ cups Shredded Parmesan Cheese Or More As Desired

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375 F.

Spread pizza dough out on your preference of pan. I use a non-stick pan with holes in it so the bottom of the dough crisps up. Set aside.

In a pan with a cover, add the fresh clams and 1/4 cup of water. Cover pan and crank heat to high. Let clams steam open. Takes about 5-7 minutes. Once they are all opened remove pan from heat.

Remove clam meat from shells once they are cool enough to handle and coarsely chop; set aside. Or if you use a can of clams, drain them and chop them.

In a large pan over medium heat add oil, shallots, peppers, pancetta and red pepper flakes. Saute until pancetta is brown and peppers and shallots have softened.

Add chopped clams, garlic and parsley. Cook until garlic is fragrant and everything is mixed together and heated through.

Spread topping evenly over pizza dough. Squeeze lemon over pizza and top with Parmesan cheese.

Bake in oven for 25 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
