Description

Just enough flavor and heat in this barbecue sauce to make your chicken delicious.

Ingredients

  • ⅓ cups Cooking Oil
  • 6 Tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 2 teaspoons Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons Light Brown Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ⅛ teaspoons Freshly Ground Pepper
  • ¼ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • ⅛ teaspoons Onion Powder
  • ¾ teaspoons Ground Chipotle Powder
  • 5 Tablespoons Water
  • 3 pounds Bone-in Chicken Breasts

Preparation

Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

In a small bowl or glass measuring cup, mix the first eleven ingredients (everything but the chicken) until well combined. You may need to add more water to reach desired basting sauce consistency. If you want less heat from the chipotle powder, simply use a little less!

Put chicken on grill and cook until it reaches an internal temperature of about 175 F, turning once. Baste chicken with barbecue sauce in the last two minutes. Cook until it reaches 180 F. Remove from grill to a clean plate and serve.

Notes: Makes about 1 cup of barbecue sauce. If you want to use some for serving, make sure to separate it out and don’t use the same sauce that you basted with.
