Description

Forget pink slime filled burgers—these black bean patties are packed with flavor, you’ll forget about those greasy hamburgers!

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (15 Oz. Size) Black Beans
  • 1 whole Egg, Beaten
  • ½ cups Plain Bread Crumbs
  • ½ Tablespoons Cumin
  • ½ teaspoons Chili Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 clove Minced Garlic
  • 1 whole Jalapeno Pepper, Diced
  • 2 Tablespoons Diced Onion
  • 2 Tablespoons Diced Red Bell Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Oil, For Frying Patties
  • 4 whole Bulkie Rolls
  • 1 whole Avocado, Mashed, To Serve
  • Your Desired Toppings, To Serve

Preparation

I like to use a potato masher because I like pieces of whole black beans in my burger. However, this can all be done in your food processor as well!

In a large bowl, mash beans. Mix in egg, bread crumbs, spices and diced veggies. Mix until it comes to gether. With your clean cooking hands, form into 4 patties.

In a large skillet over medium/high heat, add in oil and fry patties 5 minutes. Flip and fry for another 3-5 mintues.

Place on your favorite kind of roll and add in your favorite condiments. I used mashed avocado instead of mayo, salsa instead of ketchup, a slice of pepper jack cheese, sliced red onions and lettuce. Yum yum yum.

This sounds similar to a Cook’s Illustrated recipe we use. They look really yummy! :)
