Description

This is the best pizza dough recipe I’ve tried. It’s also great for calzones and breadsticks.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Lukewarm Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ⅓ cups Olive Oil
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 3-½ cups Flour

Preparation

Combine water, yeast and sugar in a bowl; set aside for about 10 minutes. Mix egg and oil and add to yeast mixture. Add salt and stir. Gradually blend in flour until a soft dough forms. Oil dough and place in a large bowl. Let rise one hour.

For pizza, divide dough in half and roll out to desired thickness. Spread into 2 pizza pans. Top with sauce and toppings and bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

For calzones, divide the dough into 4-6 equal portions and form into circles. Place toppings on half of circle. Fold remaining dough over toppings and seal edges. Brush with milk and bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes.

Fantastic. So simple, easy and very tasty. It went perfectly with my homemade sauce and meatball topping. It rose in just under an hour in a 100 degree oven, spread it into a rectangle on a parchment lined cookie sheet baked at 400. Perfect. A keeper to my recipe file.

This IS the best pizza dough ever!! I made it very easily today for my hubby’s lunch! It was quick, tasty, and super easy! I split it in half and froze some for a later date. Thanks for the recipe!

Very good. I agree with other reviewers… add a bit of salt. It baked up nice and crispy but not overly dry. Thanks for sharing

I made this dough originally for calzones and then used one leftover ball the next day for a lunchtime pizza. For folks that suggested extra salt, thanks! What made it pop the next day was sprinkling the crust with some salt and olive oil. My hubby also likes using a bit of garlic salt on the edge of the crust. I liked this recipe better than PW’s – it was crispier and I didn’t feel guilty using it immediately rather than waiting a few days like she suggests. Thanks for a great new recipe!

I made this last night and it was great! I actually put it all in my bread maker and used the dough setting and then refrigerated it overnight and used it for lunch today. It was so easy that I’ll use this recipe from now on instead of buying storemade! Thanks!!!

This pizza dough turned out great. It makes a super thin crust pizza. NExt time I would add a smidge more salt just to give it some more flavor. It was super easy. I won’t be buying store pizza dough anymore. Thanks!
