Description

Warning: if you don’t like to (or can’t) cook with alcohol, this is not the recipe for you. However, if you do brave this recipe, you’ll find that the results are delicious!

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds Beef Roast, Trimmed Of Fat And Browned
  • 1 bottle (12 Oz. Bottle) Beer (not Light Beer)
  • 4 Tablespoons Beef Bouillon Granules
  • 1 cup Dry Red Wine (I Use Caberenet Sauvignon)

Preparation

After trimming the fat off of the beef roast and browning it, place it in a crockpot. Mix bottle of beer with beef bouillon, pour over roast. Pour red wine over roast. Cover and cook on low until beef falls apart (I usually leave it overnight, but beware if your bedroom is close to the kitchen! It smells so good it might wake you up!) Enjoy!

P.S. I use this for French dips (put it on French bread with melted provolone cheese), but I also use it as my pot roast recipe (add the liquid to a roux and make gravy), or chop the meat up and throw it in chili, vegetable beef soup, etc.

This was ok, but not as good as my regular pot roast recipe. I was really wanting to use it for French Dip sandwiches, but the flavor just wasn’t right.

Very flavorful roast. Our family’s usual way of cooking a roast included dry onion soup mix, which my dad can no longer eat due to an msg aversion. I can’t wait to share this recipe with my mom. No more boring pot roast for them!
