Description

Mmm … what could be better than a hearty, casserole with rich, creamy noodles? Comfort food at it’s finest! I especially love this recipe because you can make it ahead of time. Or double the batch and freeze half for later. AND it’s quick and easy!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Hamburger
  • 1 whole Sweet Onion, Chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 can Hunt's Tomato Sauce, Garlic And Herb
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • ½ packages Cream Cheese (4 Oz)
  • ½ packages Egg Noodles (about 6 Oz)
  • ½ cups Shredded Cheddar (or Something Similar)

Preparation

Preheat oven 350F.

Brown hamburger, garlic salt, onion, and sugar. Add sauce.

Blend sour cream and cream cheese separately, with an electric mixer, until smooth.

Cook noodles. Drain.

Layer ingredients in an 8×8 pan: noodles, sour cream & cream cheese blend, meat sauce. Bake at 350F for 30 minutes, uncovered.

NOTE: This is a very flexible recipe! Diced tomatoes may be substituted for sauce. Sour cream, cream cheese and shredded cheese measurements may be rounded. The leftovers taste just as good. I usually double the recipe and freeze half for later or share it with a friend.

Made this last night and we realy enjoyed it. It seemed a little like a lasagna bake to us. We liked the cream cheese/sour cream combination well enough that I will be using that instead of ricotta (which I hate) in lasagna in the future.

Thanks for the recipe! It’s a keeper.

This was really good! My family of 4 wiped out almost the whole thing….there were only 2 small servings left and those got gobbled up for lunch the next day.

Hi =) Thanks SO much for pointing this out…I had it all typed in, then it didn’t like a measurement I had entered, so it deleted everything. I missed it second go-round. =) Yes…just sprinkle a little cheddar or some similar cheese on top. Hope you try…and like! =) Let me go fix that…

“Sour cream, cream cheese and shredded cheese measurements may be rounded. ” Shredded cheese isn’t mentioned in the ingredients or recipe – sprinkle it on top?

My husband love this dish! I enjoyed it too except I was thinking it would be more along the lines of a creamy Swedish meatball type of dish it wasnt but that is okay. My husband loves it and that is all that matters:)
