Description

Entertaining friends for the weekend? Want to show them your stuff? This recipe turns ordinary chicken drumsticks into something a bit more glamorous for guests! It is a little bit involved for a weeknight meal so save it for when you know you can devote time to it.

Ingredients

  • ½ cups Balsamic Vinegar
  • ¼ cups Tamari Soy Sauce
  • ½ cups Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Minced Garlic
  • 10  Chicken Drumsticks
  • 2 Tablespoons Sesame Seeds
  • ¼ cups Fresh Chopped Parsley

Preparation

Mix together vinegar, soy sauce, honey and garlic. Place mixture in a plastic zip lock bag and then add drumsticks. After sealing the bag, work the mixture all over the drumsticks in the bag. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to marinate.

Preheat oven to 450ºF.

After marinating chicken in the fridge, place the drumsticks on a foil-lined baking sheet, but reserve the marinade still left in the bag and pour into a saucepan and set aside.

Cook the drumsticks for about 1 hour until you start seeing them caramelized.

Heat the marinade in the saucepan until boiling to kill bacteria, then reduce heat and simmer until thick (15-20 minutes). When the chicken is done, brush the marinade all over the drumsticks.

Place on a platter. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and parsley and you will look like a fabulous gourmet chef!

This recipe is AMAZING! I’ve made it countless times in the last 10 years, both for my catering business and for friends and family at home. Succulent, tasty chicken that’s as good at room temp as hot. Easy peasy to make. And, yes, the oven temp is too high. I use 375. But given that easy correction, these drumsticks are winners!

The written ingredients were yummy, quick and easy meal that my husband loved. Having said that, the temperature and duration of cooking are both high. 450 degrees for an hour seemed like a lot of heat for a long time. I heated the oven to 400 and after about 30 minutes it started smelling like it was burning. I turned it down a bit and let the chicken cook another 10 minutes before I pulled it out. The skin was burned so I discarded it, but the meat was very most and cooked well, and it was really tasty from marinating. With the adjustments I made, this is a 4 or 5 star recipe which I will make again :)
