Description

Baked Mac & Cheese like mom used to make!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Elbow Macaroni
  • 5 Tablespoons Margarine
  • 1 pound Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Grated
  • ½ cups Italian Breadcrumbs
  • 8 ounces, fluid Evaporated Milk

Preparation

Cook macaroni until tender

In a casserole dish layer:

1. margarine
2. elbow mac
3. cheese

Repeat the layers of macaroni and cheese until your dish is full, sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top and pour evaporated milk over the entire surface.

Bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes (or until breadcrumbs are toasted and you see cheese bubbling).

I really liked this. Nice, crunchy top and yummy underneath. I think I will probably add some dry mustard next time I do it – I like that flavoring in mac and cheese. But, I just love the texture and consistency of this recipe! I would think the added ham would be good, too! I’ll keep that in mind next time.
