Description

I went on a search for baked beans, homemade, not from a can. I couldn’t find any that I liked so here is my version. They turned out really “yummy in the tummy,” my 3-year-old said.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup White Navy Beans
  • 3 cups Water (to Soak Beans In)
  • 1 whole Onion, Chopped
  • ½ pounds Salt Pork Chopped
  • ½ cups Brown Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons Dijon Mustard
  • 3 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 whole Cloves Garlic, Minced
  • ⅓ cups Ketchup

Preparation

Soak navy beans in water overnight. This will soften the beans.
In the morning before work, chop up your onion and salt pork. Drain the beans and put in the slow cooker with the onion and pork. Add remaining ingredients, give a good stir and then set your slow cooker to low heat. Let simmer all day long and then come home to a great smelling house and dish up!

Oh, my gosh! I love baked beans but never make them because I never buy the canned beans. This looks wonderful, and I’m going to be making it soon. Thanks so much!
