Description

Try these flavorful BBQ country ribs with an Asian twist and a side of garlic green beans!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE SAUCE:
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Chopped Fresh Ginger
  • ½ whole Yellow Onion, Diced Small
  • ¾ cups Ketchup
  • ½ cups Hoison Sauce
  • ¼ cups Oyster Sauce
  • ¼ cups Honey
  • 1 whole Orange, Juiced
  • FOR THE RIBS:
  • 4 pounds Country Style Ribs (Southern Style)
  • Kosher Salt And Fresh Cracked Pepper To Taste
  • Sesame Seeds, For Garnish
  • FOR THE BEANS:
  • 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 3 cloves Finely Minced Garlic
  • 1 pound Trimmed Fresh Green Beans

Preparation

For the sauce:
In a medium-sized pot on high heat with the olive oil, caramelize the ginger and onions. Once brown, add in all ingredients and let simmer on low heat.

For the ribs:
Season all sides of the ribs with salt and pepper and cook them on each side of a very hot grill (450° to 550°F) for 8 to 10 minutes to get them perfectly golden brown. Once brown, remove them from the grill and place them on a sheet pan lined with parchment. Preheat oven to 300ºF.

Using a pastry brush, baste each rib with some of the Asian BBQ sauce. Place the ribs in the oven on 300°F for 3 hours. Every 30 minutes, re-baste the ribs on all sides with more Asian BBQ sauce. Once cooked, remove from the oven.

For the beans:
In a large saute pan with the olive oil, caramelize the garlic. Once brown, turn the heat down to medium-high. Add in the green beans and saute for 6 to 8 minutes or until the beans are al dente or cooked to your desired doneness. Season with salt and pepper.

To plate, stake up the ribs on a plate topped off with some sesame seeds and serve alongside the green beans.
