Description

Moist tender pork with a sweet and Asian spiced glaze.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE PORK:
  • ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Onion Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Black Pepper
  • 1 whole (3-4 Lb. Size) Boneless Pork Loin Roast
  • FOR THE SAUCE:
  • ¼ cups Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • ½ cups Ketchup
  • ⅓ cups Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Hoisin Sauce
  • 1-½ teaspoon Chinese-style Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Lite Soy Sauce
  • ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Ginger
  • ¼ teaspoons Chinese Five Spice Powder

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line a roasting pan with heavy-duty aluminum foil. Spray the foil with nonstick cooking spray. Set the pan aside.

Combine the garlic powder, onion powder and pepper in a small bowl.

Trim the excess fat from the roast. Sprinkle the roast on all sides with the garlic powder mixture. Place the roast in the prepared pan. Bake uncovered at 350 F for 50 minutes.

For the sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, sauté the onion in butter until tender. Stir in the ketchup. honey, Hoisin sauce, mustard, soy sauce, garlic powder, ginger and five-spice powder. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, until the sauce is reduced to 3/4 cup, about 20-25 minutes, stirring often. When done remove from heat.

After 50 minutes of bake time brush the sauce over the pork. Return the roast to the oven and bake at 350 F for 10-15 minutes longer or until a thermometer reads 145 F. Remove the pan from the oven, tent the roast with a piece of aluminum foil and allow the roast to rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing. Serve roast with remaining sauce on the side.

Recipe makes 8-10 servings.

This was very delicious. I bought a pork loin, thinking that it was a pork tenderloin for a different recipe, and my mom and I were trying to figure out how to cook the pork loin. This was very fast and easy to do. When I was putting the rub on the meat, I had make a little bit more to be able to get all of the meat rubbed.

This was delicious! Used garlic salt instead of garlic powder, as Patricia suggested. That was the only change I made. This will definitely be a staple in my kitchen!

It’s pretty tasty. My only addition would be to add salt to the garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper rub (the original published recipe called for garlic salt instead of garlic powder). Makes a lot of bbq sauce – enough to glaze an additional roast at a later time. Thanks for sharing!
