Description

Really easy. And GOOD without marinating or actually grilling in the winter! I put a few ideas I had together and my friends and I liked the result.

Ingredients

  • 1-½ Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1-¾ pound Pork Loin Center Chops (4-6 Count)
  • Ground Black Pepper, Optional
  • ⅔ cups Ketchup
  • ⅔ cups Brown Sugar
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced Or Pressed
  • ½ teaspoons Onion Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • ¼ teaspoons Liquid Hickory Smoke Flavor, Or More To Taste
  • 1 whole Apple, Peeled, Cored, And Grated

Preparation

Preheat frying pan to medium high heat and pour in oil. Sprinkle chops with pepper if desired and quick fry to brown chops on each side. Remove chops to a baking dish.

Stir together the ketchup, brown sugar, garlic, onion powder, soy sauce, and smoke flavor. Grate in the apple and combine. Layer sauce in with the pork chops, and cover. Bake at 350ºF for 1 hour. Reduce heat to 275ºF to 300ºF and continue baking for 30 more minutes. The dish can be uncovered for the last 15 minutes of cooking to ensure the sauce gets rich and thick.

Serve with rice pilaf and a nice green salad!

These pork chops were amazing. I followed the recipe exactly, except I couldn’t find hickory liquid smoke so I used mesquite. They were awesome! I’m considering making them again this week even though it’s only been about 4 days.

DELICIOUS! I substituted sorghum for the brown sugar and pureed the sauce in my Vita-Mix instead of peeling/grating the apple and grating the garlic.
