Description

Homemade garlic powder is more flavorful and more aromatic and a very popular ingredient. Try this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1-⅞ ounces, weight Garlic

Preparation

Peel the garlic. Separate into cloves. Next cut cloves into thin slices lengthwise.

Place sliced garlic on a dry pan and toast over low heat for about 45 minutes or until golden brown. Turn garlic slices often so they dry out evenly.

Grind them into powder. You can use a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle. (A mortar and pestle is the traditional tool.)

Pour the garlic powder into a container and store in the freezer. Enjoy.

Thanks for the recipe Stella! I can’t wait to try it!
@emeraldwindsor, try storing it in the freezer. My store bought powder dries & clumps too if I leave it out.

Well that’s an easy enough process!
Thanks for sharing.

Could you let us know how long it will keep in the freezer?

Stella,
Another great idea…..
You become so used to buying ready made from the store, that you never give any thought to where and how it got there. So many things that we can make our self if we would only take the time.
Thanks again for sharing …………….
