A sweet and savory corn casserole that will change your opinion of the relative who carted it up your sidewalk. Picture your worst in-law holding the best casserole on this planet. Love is the only answer, as long as you have this dish on the table. People will sob and beg for the recipe. So much better than those corn casseroles with Jiffy mix. Trust me. You have died and gone to corn heaven.

Cake balls have truly been this year’s baking craze, and with good reason. They’re delicious, they’re cute and they’re delicious.

Mint meringues with chocolate chips. Light as air and melt in your mouth! A Christmas favorite. “Forgotten” because you leave them in the oven overnight. And “kisses” for their shape.

When you think of Christmas sugar cookies, brown sugar and spices may not come immediately to mind. But these ingredients make simply an outstanding cookie. I usually roll out my dough fairly thick and the result is a soft, slightly crisp and buttery cookie that is a lightly spiced taste of Christmas. And when you layer on a heavy coat of cream cheese frosting, you do indeed have something very special.

This sounds good, but I’ve never heard of “golden syrup”.
Does it have anything to do with maple syrup or simple sugar syrup?

Hello – I may try to make this, as well. Sounds yummy – anything gooey has my immediate attention. I searched golden syrup & it sounds like a thick corn syrup. Evidently, you can substitute equal parts corn syrup & molasses; or, a 2 parts corn syrup to one part molasses mixture; or just plain old corn syrup, if you don’t like the taste of molasses (I love molasses so I’ll probably go 50/50). But 14 ounces of syrup? No wonder it’s sticky!

I found golden syrup at Cost Plus World Market–been wondering what to do with it—ahhhhaaa! I’m going to try this yummy one tomorrow.

Hey guys, sorry I didn’t reply sooner. Golden Syrup is British, but you should be able to find it at Whole Foods or in big grocery stores with an international section. If not then you can probably substitute with corn syrup although it isn’t quite the same. Golden syrup has the same consistancy and colour as honey but tastes more like slightly burned/browned sugar.

Is Golden Syrup High Fructose Corn Syrup? That’s one of those things I don’t cook with.
Has anyone reduced the sugar in this recipe? I often find that desserts are too sugary and play around with reducing the sweetness.
