Description

What’s better than hot chocolate on a cold day? Hot chocolate with coated marshmallow stir sticks!!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE HOT CHOCOLATE:
  • 2-½ cups Powdered Milk
  • ½ cups Powdered Non-dairy Creamer
  • ¼ cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • ½ cups Cocoa Powder
  • FOR THE STIR STICKS:
  • 10 whole Peppermint Candies
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips
  • 10 whole Stir Straws
  • 10 whole Large Marshmallows
  • 1 container Colored Sprinkles

Preparation

For the hot chocolate, mix together the dry milk, powdered creamer, sugars, and cocoa powder. Mix to combine and store in a sealed container.

To prepare: Add 4-5 heaping Tablespoons of the mixture to a mug of hot water or milk and stir until powder is dissolved.

For Stir Sticks:
I listed peppermint candies and colored sprinkles as the “toppings”. You can use anything that you want.

First you need to crush your candies. I personally use a mortar and pestle to do this. Set aside once crushed.

Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave (30 second increments, stirring in between each) or on the stove top over a double boiler.

Stick straws into the marshmallows while the chocolate is melting.

Once the chocolate is melted, simply dip your marshmallows into the chocolate and then into whatever topping you want on them. Such as crushed peppermints or sprinkles!

I like to add “flavor” to my hot chocolate mixes and then make stir sticks to match. For example, you can add some flavored dairy creamer to the mix (I use toffee!) and then crush up Heath bars to put on the marshmallows. Use your imagination and have fun! These make great holiday gifts when you package some hot chocolate mix with some stir sticks.
