Description

Making cream sodas at home is very easy and super delicious. All you need is a flavored syrup, cream, and carbonated water! I have included three syrup recipes, but you can use a pre-made syrup if you prefer.

From Erica Kastner of Buttered Side Up.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE CREAM SODA:
  • 1 ounce, fluid Flavored Syrup Of Choice
  • 1 ounce, fluid Heavy Cream
  • 5 ounces, fluid Chilled Carbonated Water
  • FOR THE VANILLA SYRUP:
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons Vanilla Extract
  • FOR THE RASPBERRY SYRUP:
  • 2 cups Raspberries
  • 1 cup Water
  • ¾ cups Sugar
  • FOR THE ORANGE SYRUP
  • ½ cups Orange Juice
  • 1-½ cup Water
  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Orange Extract

Preparation

To make a cream soda:
Combine syrup, cream, and carbonated water in an 8-ounce glass. Taste and add more syrup, cream, or carbonated water if needed.

For the vanilla syrup:
Place water and sugar in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Store at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

For the raspberry syrup (recipe adapted from Live Simply):
Place all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve. Store in the refrigerator.

For the orange syrup:
Place the orange juice, water, and sugar in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the orange extract. Store in the refrigerator. Shake before using.

I had some raspberries I wanted to use up so I gave this a try…yummy and looks so good too. Not an overly sweet beverage and perfect as an afternoon treat.
