Homemade gingerbread hot chocolate is the perfect Christmas drink! This gingerbread spice infused hot chocolate warms you up and gets you into a festive mood!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Water
  • 1-½ stick Cinnamon
  • 4 whole Allspice Berries
  • 6 whole Cloves
  • 5 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 piece (1 1/2 Inch Size) Fresh Ginger, Peeled And Sliced
  • 1 cup Whipping Cream
  • 2 Tablespoons Powdered Sugar
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 4 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

Preparation

In a medium sauce pan, combine water, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, sugar and ginger. Bring to a boil and reduce heat. Simmer for 7–10 minutes or until syrup is infused with spices.

Meanwhile, whip cream with powdered sugar and set aside.

Taste syrup and if you are happy with the taste, add milk and cocoa powder. Whisk until well combined. Bring to a boil and cook for about a minute. Turn off and remove spices, either with a spoon or strain the drink through a cheesecloth.

Pour into mugs and serve topped with whipped cream, gingerbread sugar (mix gingerbread spice with superfine sugar) and/or gingerbread syrup.
