Great recipe…super tasty. I could not find star anise, but it was still wonderful. Will make this again and again! Thank you

I tried this last night and loved it! My daughter wasn’t big on the addition of the orange zest, but I thought it was fine. I bought my star anise and cardamom pods online from the Great American Spice Company, both at very reasonable prices.

Thanks for the recipe, it is delicious! I found my whole spices at a couple of international grocery stores – Asian market had black cardamom pods, anise star & whole cloves for really great prices, and the Indian food store had whole nutmeg and both black & green cardamom for reasonable prices. MUCH better than at my grocery store. I definitely recommend the international markets if you have access to them. I made this the original way, but will probably cut the sugar down next time.

What is the best substitute if you don’t have fresh ginger or cardamom pods?

This is fantastic, cheap and so easy. To answer a previous poster’s question, YES, this stores very well. I kept mine in the refrigerator for at least two weeks and it was completely delightful. I used vanilla soy milk to mix with the concentrate and the extra vanilla boost was very tasty. Highly recommended!

Oh YUM!! I made this. I omitted the brown sugar for personal preference and mix with almond milk. YUM!!!

@bajagirl: You can use the cardamom seeds if you have them or if not, ground cardamom and ginger will work fine.

Just made this for the 2nd time!! Very fragrant. The flavors are great. I tried it with 2% milk the first time 1 to 1 ratio and also tried it with almond milk 1 to 1 ratio and both were delish!! My first batch I used black tea bags and white tea bags…the second batch I used Earl Grey tea bags.

I just tried this recipe out. Overall I’m impressed but would cut back on the sugar the next time I make it…and there definitely will be a next time!
