Is the additional sugar really necessary? Watermelon is usually quite sweet as it is?

This is lovely mixed with lime flavored rum as part of a cocktail. Equally delicious cut half and half with lemonade OR as the main ingredient in a fabulous watermelon martini.
I made this over the 4th of July holiday with some less than perfect watermelon. Just need a little extra sweetness.
