Description

Don’t be fooled, there’s no ice cream in this cake. But if you want a cake with extra vanilla flavor you’ve come to the right place!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE CAKE:
  • ½ cups Butter Or Shortening
  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • 2-½ cups Flour
  • 3-¼ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 4 whole Egg Whites
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla
  • _____
  • FOR THE GLAZE:
  • ¾ cups Butter
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 4 Tablespoons Milk
  • 1-½ Tablespoon Vanilla
  • 1 pinch Salt

Preparation

For the cake:
Preheat your oven to 350F. Cream the 1/2 cup butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar, and then just add the rest of your cake ingredients. Mix on the lowest speed until just combined, then up the speed 1-2 notches and mix for 3 minutes. Pour into a greased 9×13 pan and bake at 350F for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Immediately pour on glaze, recipe below.

For the glaze:
Melt the last 5 ingredients together over medium heat, stirring to keep the sugar from burning on the bottom of the pan. Bring the mixture to a rapid boil and cook for 2 more minutes. Then pour immediately over the cake.

Let cake sit and cool for at least an hour before digging in, although I would recommend letting it cool completely.
