These were the cookies my mom always made when I was growing up, and I’ve never had eyes for any other. Every child in my family could make them by the age of 8 and they are still a family tradition!
Cream butter and sugars together in a large mixing bowl using a wooden spoon. Add eggs. Stir in salt, baking powder, baking soda, vanilla, and flour until well combined.
Place oatmeal and chocolate bar in a blender or food processor; blend until chocolate is chopped into small pieces. Add the oat and chocolate mixture to the cookie dough along with chocolate chips. Stir to combine.
Roll dough into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 400 degrees F; do not overbake.
These freeze very well; my little brothers always preferred them frozen, and my friends always knew to search the freezer if they wanted a cookie!
