Description

A 5-minute chocolate syrup that is every bit as good (or even better?) as something you would find in the store!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water
  • ½ cups Cocoa Powder
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • ½ teaspoons Vanilla
  • 1 dash Salt

Preparation

In a small sauce pan, whisk together water, cocoa, and sugar. Over medium heat, bring to a rolling boil. Stirring often, boil for 5 minutes. Then, take the sauce off heat, add vanilla and salt, and stir well. Let the syrup cool (it will thicken as it does). When cool, put in a clean bottle, and refrigerate (I actually use an old Hershey’s squeeze bottle). Syrup will keep for a few months.

(If you like a less-sweet syrup, use about 1 1/2 cups of sugar. Feel free to use dark cocoa powder for a dark chocolate syrup. This is a really simple recipe, and hard to screw up, so adjust until you find what you like!)

I made this syrup, and once I sampled it I fell in love! Rich, velvety and oh so smooth. My harshest critics, my kiddies, loved this drizzled over their icecream, and declared that “it rocks!”.

LOVE it! Easy, fast, and wonderful.

Simple ingredients that come together easily, and that supply one of those staples in our house of “homemade ice cream every day”… we ran out of store bought chocolate syrup last night so I knew this morning I had to whip this up.

This is what I love about Tasty Kitchen, some of the easiest things that we previously bought at the store are now being made at home so quickly and easily.
