Description

Real rich buttery sweet sugar cookie in bar form! Easy to make and kids can make it as well. Great for bake sales, picnics, parties and traveling.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter, Room Temperature
  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 4 whole Large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 5 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 3 cups Frosting (any, Add More If You Like)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375ºF. Line a 10×15 baking pan (or smaller for thicker bars).

In the mixing bowl of a stand mixer, with the paddle attachment, cream butter and sugar on medium high speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at at time, beating on medium speed, mixing well after each addition. Add vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, blend flour, salt and baking soda well. Slowly add flour mixture to butter mixture on low speed, blending well after each addition.

Spread cookie dough evenly onto prepared baking pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until tester inserted into center comes out clean. Cool in pan completely.

Remove from pan and frost as desired. Cut and serve!

Options: decorate with sprinkles, sanding sugars, etc.

Marvelous! Makes a huge batch so this is good for parties and potlucks. I baked mine in two quarter sheet pans for 15 minutes and they were perfectly soft and chewy. I also used coconut instead of vanilla extract and a nice, soft buttercream on top. Really wonderful, easy cookie bars. Thanks!
