Description

Fun and festive Halloween cupcakes! Make them for the classroom, for trick-or-treating, or even to bring to the office.

Ingredients

  • 1 box Cake Mix, 15.25 Oz
  • 1-⅓ cup Water
  • ⅓ cups Vegetable Oil
  • 3  Large Eggs
  • 1 container Vanilla Frosting (12 Oz)
  • 1 container Chocolate Frosting (12 Oz)
  • 24 whole Plastic Spider Rings

Preparation

Blend cake mix, water, oil and eggs on medium speed for two minutes. (Use the amounts of water, oil and eggs that your cake mix specifies – my cake mix required the above amounts of each).

Prepare a cupcake pan with paper cupcake liners and fill the liners 1/3 full. Bake as directed on package (using the package specified temperature and bake time). Remove from oven when centers are done.

Remove cupcakes from pan and let cool.

Frost cupcakes with vanilla frosting. Once all cupcakes are frosted, fill a sandwich bag 1/2 full with chocolate frosting.

With scissors, snip one corner off of the sandwich bag.

Squeezing the bag of chocolate frosting, make two large circles of chocolate frosting on top of the vanilla frosting, one circle inside of the other.

To make the web design, use a knife and start at the center of each cupcake. Gently drag a knife down to the edge of the cupcake. This will “drag” the frosting and make the web effect. Repeat four to six times, depending on how you want your “web” to look.

Add a plastic spider ring to each cupcake.
