Description

These bars are a family favorite. Think brownie texture and consistency minus the chocolate. Add the cinnamon and sugar … YUMMY!

Ingredients

  • 2-⅔ cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 cups Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup Butter, Room Temperature
  • 2 whole Eggs, Room Temperature
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar For Sprinkling
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon, For Sprinkling

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix 2 tablespoons sugar with 2 teaspoons cinnamon (for sprinkling) and set aside.

Combine flour, baking powder, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg and salt; set aside. Beat the butter and brown sugar for 3–5 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Add vanilla and beat until smooth. Stir in flour mixture and spread in a greased 9 x 13 baking dish.

Sprinkle combined sugar and cinnamon mixture over the top and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Don’t overbake!! Cool and cut.

I made these for my family. Everyone, myself included, loved them! I’m pretty sure they didn’t even last a full day in the house. I also love the fact that these ingredients are always ones I have on hand. Thanks so much for the easy and delicious recipe!

heidiw — I made these bars for my daughters dance team last night. Everybody loved them!!!! I can’t tell you how many requests I got for the recipe. I was making a meal for them before their competition and wanted something easy to make for dessert. Occasionally I like to do something without chocolate because, well, you can do chocolate anytime. Good thing I came upon this recipe. Thank-you so much for the contribution!

I made these today & they were very yummy – especially minutes out of the oven. They remind me of the Blondies Nancy Drew is always using for bribes in the Nancy Drew movie. When I took my children to the movie all I could think about was “How am I going to make those blondies”! I’ve tried a couple other recipes and they didn’t even compare – these are pretty darn close to what I thought they’d be like. Thank you for sharing!

I made this tonight and they are delicious!!! I added 6oz. of white chocolate, chopped, to the batter and it made them even sweeter! Definitely keeping this recipe!

Wow! These are wonderful! What a nice change from the standard brownies at a cookout or potluck. My family loved them and I loved that I already had all of the ingredients in my pantry. I have a feeling that these will be made again and again.

I halved the butter, but otherwise kept to the recipe. Absolutely delicious bars, with tons of cinnamon flavor and a dense, luscious texture. My husb inhaled them. A definite keeper. Thanks.

I omitted the nutmeg because I don’t usually add it to regular snickerdoodle and WOW these were sooo very good!

These were a wonderful counterpart to super-rich brownies at our family reunion yesterday. Would also be a GREAT treat with coffee!

**Mine were a tad dry, so I must’ve overmeasured my flour.
