Description

This dessert is so surprisingly yummy and absolutely perfect for these cold winter days we are all experiencing around the country.

You can make these apples and serve them without whipped cream and they would make a perfect side dish for any pork loin or roasted chicken. But if you are naughty like me, add some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream and enjoy this delicious apple dessert!

Ingredients

  • 2 whole Large Granny Smith Apples
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • ⅛ cups Raisins
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
  • ¼ cups Water
  • ¼ cups Whipping Cream Or Vanilla Ice Cream
  • 4 sticks Cinnamon

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Remove the core of the apples with a sharp knife or apple corer and then peel the tops of the apples.

In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, raisins, ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg. Stir to combine.

Place the apples in a small baking dish and fill the centers with the raisin mixture.

Pour 1/4 cup of water into the small baking dish so that it surrounds the apples. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the apples become tender and baste them occassionally with the juices at the bottom of the baking dish so the tops don’t dry out.

Serve with some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream in the center of the apple! Garnish with cinnamon sticks. Enjoy!
