Just a simple shortcake, perfect for strawberries and whipped cream.
Preheat oven to 375ºF. Cut the butter into the flour and sugar until the mixture is crumbly. Remove 1 1/2 cups of this mixture, and to the remaining, beat in the baking powder, milk, and vanilla (I microwave the milk to heat the cake ingredients so less baking time is needed). Pour and spread the batter in a 13×18 baking sheet. Sprinkle the reserved crumbs on top. Bake for 20–25 minutes.
