Description

A shortbread cookie that’s great with tea or coffee.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter
  • 3 Tablespoons Powdered Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2-½ cups Flour
  • 1 cup Chopped Nuts (pecans Or Your Favorite)
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar, For Rolling The Cookies In, Or More As Needed

Preparation

Soften the butter to room temperature.

With a wooden spoon mix together the butter, 3 Tablespoons of powdered sugar, vanilla, flour and nuts in a medium sized bowl. Make sure to mix it very well. Mixture will appear dry and crumbly when it’s ready.

Shape into balls or crescent shapes. Place the balls on a lightly greased cookie sheet. These do not spread.

Bake at 325F for approximately 10 minutes. Then remove from the oven and allow to cool. When cool roll the cookies in powdered sugar.

Seems like to me that happened once to me years ago, I think I added a drop or two of water. The cookies I made where about an inch in size. The butter/oleo must be at room temp, still in solid form. The dough should be dry and crumbly, but when you take a palm full of it and make a fist it should stick together. Hope that helps! So sorry you had a problem.

We made these today, my mom, grandson, and I, and I was wondering what I did wrong. The taste is okay but we could not get them to hold their shape as the ones you show in the picture. About how big should they be? Any suggestions on getting the results you do?
