I made these. Twice. Loved the flavors. The first time, I baked it in an 8 x 8 inch pan like the recipes calls for and had to leave it in for 50 minutes. The middle was still soft and gooey. I didn’t like that. But I liked the cake so much I tried it again.

The second time I made it in a 9 x9 inch square baking pan. After 35 – 40 minutes – it baked up just right!

Thanks for the baking time change… definitely need at least 45 minutes.

Wow! These are GREAT! I served them for a Sunday brunch of meat eaters! I would serve again with home-made ice cream!

I do need to change that baking time, because I made them again recently and it took around 45-50 minutes!

I made these last night while having a craving for something sweet and they definitely hit the spot! From reading the other reviews, I went a little light on the sugar (1.5 cups) and I only had white chocolate chips so I added 1 cup of those. I baked for close to 35 minutes and they came out perfect, not gooey at all (I actually may only do 30 min next time). I will definitely make them again and try them with semi-sweet chocolate. Thanks for a great recipe!

I accidentally cut the sugar in half when I made these, but they were still wonderful! They were not gooey at all. Middle was perfect. I doubt I’ll make these with the full amount of sugar, they were just sweet enough.

I’m not sure why so many people had issues with these. I mixed and baked as directed, baked @ 350 for 50 minutes and they are yummy. The outside is crusty but the inside is soft and kind of gooey.

My original review yesterday morning:

Wonderful! I made the recipe exactly…takes 10 minutes max to get in the oven -yea!

I did have to bake for 50 minutes.

EDIT***4/7

When I got to the middle of my pan, even though a toothpick had come out clean, middle was runny. I ended up throwing out the middle. The edges were wonderful as stated.

Reviewing the original blog post and clicking to the recipe the poster says she used…THAT recipe is very different. Different ratio of flour/sugar, includes butter. Hmmm.

Hummm, these didn’t work for me either. I think two cups of sugar for one cup of flour is a bit extreme! That being said, though, I printed the original recipe which doesn’t state “light brown sugar” so I grabbed dark brown sugar from the store – I’m in the UK and dark brown sugar is REALLY molasses-ey, which naturally turned into a pretty strong flavour in the bars.
