This cake is wonderful! So simple and different from everyday cake. I’ll make this one again and again.

I may be partial but my Mom (twinks) makes the best pie cake ever. The combination of crunchy from the crust, moist from the cake and gooey from the chocolate sauce is to die for. Honestly, the best thing about this recipe is that there is no stirring needed when you add the chocolate. It is “self swirling” and it always turns out as pretty as can be.

AMAZING!!! I’ve never heard of Pie Cake before, I’m so glad this recipe was posted because it’s sooooo good! Everyone loved it. I also used her pie crust recipe, again it’s AMAZING and so easy.

Delicious! Tried it warm out of the oven, and room temperature and preferred it at room temp. My family loved it.
It’s really neat with the chocolate on the top, and the soft chocolate next to the crust. The cake is very fluffy. Next time I make this, I’m going to try a shortbread crust, because I think it would really bring it over the top.

Yum! Plopped a little semi-frozen whipped topping on top to melt. Delicious! Thanks for the unique recipe!

In Pennsylvania this is called a Funny Cake. Its a PA Dutch thing. Very good “cake”. My recipe is exactly the same.

Hi CoffeeBeanBaby! Thanks for the background on ‘Funny Cake’. I spent my childhood in Oklahoma and we were the only family I know that ate anything like it. Even as an adult I haven’t run into anyone else who makes it. I’m glad my mom had this recipe to pass on to me.

What a fun idea! However, chocolate is one of my hubby’s food allergies, so we have to limit it to just an occasional taste. Is there something that would substitute for the chocolate sauce in this recipe?

I’ve never tried the recipe with anything but chocolate, but I imagine it would be just as good with a butterscotch sauce made with butter, btown sugar and cream. Mmmm. I might have to try that myself!

The best of both worlds! I can’t wait to try this one. Thanks for the pie crust recipe as well. I love my pie crust recipe, but sometimes don’t have the time for rolling and cutting. This is going to save me lots of time when it comes to making quiche.

Definitely going to make this. Sounds so good! You have many recipes that I am planning on trying! Thanks!

I have to say, this Pie Cake is absolutely wonderful! I asked my husband would he rather have this or the Legendary Fudge Pie (he’s not big on chocolate–I am!)
We both really liked this recipe and it’s super easy too. I will make this again!
