Description

A sweet, crunchy, fruity dessert. Perfectly accompanied by vanilla ice cream or sweetened cream. Oh, and it has oats. Which means it’s healthy. I swear.

Ingredients

  • 4 whole Pears, Bosc Or Bartlett Work Well
  • ½ cups Sugar
  • 3 pinches Kosher Salt
  • ⅛ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ½ cups Rolled Oats (NOT Quick Cooking)
  • ¾ cups All-purpose Flour
  • ¼ cups Sugar
  • ¼ cups Firmly Packed Brown Sugar
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ½ cups Finely Chopped Pecans
  • 6 Tablespoons Melted Butter

Preparation

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.

Peel, core, and dice your pears. In a small bowl, mix the fruit with the next three ingredients: sugar, kosher salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, mix together the remaining ingredients (everything except the melted butter).Stir with a fork or mix with a pastry blender as you add the melted butter. Mix until just combined and a small crumb starts to form.

Pour pears and any juice that has collected into an 8 inch baking dish. Ramekins or oven safe coffee mugs would also make cute individual serving containers. Spread the topping over the top of the fruit and bake for 30 minutes. After the first half hour, move the crisp to the top rack of your oven and bake for another 10 minutes or until the crisp is bubbly and golden brown. Serve warm with ice cream.
