Description

This is a super easy dessert with a lot of eye-appeal. A non-baker will be wow-ed with your pastry prowess and someone who knows their way around the flour bin will give you a respectful nod of approval.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Sheet Of Puff Pastry, Thawed, But Still Cold
  • 2 whole Firm, Tart Or Sweet (your Choice) Apples
  • 4 Tablespoons Brown Sugar, Packed
  • 4 teaspoons Cold Butter Cut Into Chunks
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon, Clove, Nutmeg, Allspice - Or Any Combination
  • 1 whole Egg, Slightly Beaten

Preparation

1. Center a rack in the oven and preheat to 400 degrees (F).
2. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. Cut puff pastry into four 4-inch circles and place onto parchment.
4. Peel apples, cut them into halves and core them.
5. Cut each apple half into six or eight chunks and center on puff pastry.
6. Top each apple with one tablespoon brown sugar, a sprinkling of spices, and 1 teaspoon of cold butter.
7. Curl the pastry up around the apple as much as you can (see photo) and then brush pastry with beaten egg.
8. Bake for about 25 minutes (time will vary depending on your apple variety and how large the apple pieces are) until the pastry is deeply browned and puffed around the apple, and the apple can be easily pierced with a knife.
