Description

These cookies are soft and chewy—and big. Big being the best kind of cookie, of course.

Ingredients

  • ⅔ cups Real Butter, Softened
  • ⅔ cups Vegetable Shortening
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 3-½ cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

In a mixing bowl, cream butter, shortening, and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla; mix well.

Combine flour, salt, and baking soda in a separate bowl; add to creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.

Drop by generously rounded tablespoons (I use a medium scooper, probably more like 2-3 tablespoons) onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for at 350°F 10-12 minutes (or 13-15 minutes for the big ones) or until golden brown.

Cool on wire rack.

These have been my go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe for years!!! Everyone LOVES them and asks me for the recipe. I’ve also made just the cookie dough and given out frozen cookie dough for Christmas with the instructions to finish baking them. They’re always a big hit and everyone loves the extra “dough” around the holidays. These are the best soft and chewy, not flat, beautiful chocolate chip cookies. Thanks again for sharing the recipe with us!

My family really enjoyed these cookies. They stayed soft the day after baking. I was out of brown sugar so I made my own using 1 cup white mixed with 2 TBS molasses – my husband liked the extra molasses flavor in these cookies.

These turned out better than expected! They look beautiful and taste just as great! They’re chewy, not flat, and look like I bought them from a fancy cookie store. I made these for some neighbors and they couldn’t seem to get enough of them. They commented on how good they were! Thanks again for sharing. I will definitely be making these again.
