Description

To die for chocolaty heaven.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks Butter (no Substitution)
  • 4 pieces (Squares) Of Individually Wrapped Unsweetened Chocolate (from The Baker's Bars)
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1-½ cup Sifted Regular White Flour Or Cake Flour (not Self-rising)
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 4 whole Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1-½ cup Finely Chopped Walnuts

Preparation

Use a large heavy duty pot (4 to 5 quart is good). Melt butter and 4 chocolate squares in heavy duty pot over medium high heat on stovetop stirring attentively so as not to burn. After chocolate is all melted with butter, remove pot from heat and let pot cool for about 10 minutes then add sugar, sifted dry ingredients, eggs, vanilla and nuts. Mix well.

Transfer to a greased 9×11 rectangular metal baking pan (don’t use glass) and bake at 325 degrees F for exactly 37 minutes (per my grandmother and right on the money as long as the oven is). Keep an eye on it, in case your oven varies – it’s done when a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.

Cool, cut and enjoy!!!!!!!

Note: If you don’t or can’t use the nuts (even though that is the best way), you can increase your flour amount by 1/3 cup so the brownies are not too gooey.
