This was delicious and very easy to make! I made it right away and was blown away by how good it was! I was a little scared to pour water all over the top, but it turned out amazing. I served it plain with vanilla ice cream and my husband is already asking for me to make it again. I used dark chocolate cocoa powder and it seemed to be just the right flavor.
I would definitely try to serve it all in one sitting, as it was not quite as good reheated. It turned more into a brownie consistency.

SUPER SUPER easy recipe, made it for a Bible study group! They all “oohed and aahed” when I cut into it and the chocolate lava started flowing! I also used the dark cocoa powder and mixed the first section right in the baking dish-to save on dirty dishes!
Served it with vanilla bean ice cream, it was a HIT!
Best served warm, after sitting about 10 minutes from the oven!

Found this a very easy and quick recipe to make. I used a deeper dish and it needed about 12 minutes longer in the oven. It still had a good amount of sauce under the cake despite the longer cooking time. I found it did make 10 servings as listed because it is so rich that a smaller portion is completely satisfying. I did serve with vanilla ice cream.

I made this three nights in a row.
Instead of the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt, I used 1 cup of self-rising flour — it turned out just fine.
The first night, I didn’t have an 8×8 dish, so I used a pie plate, but should have put a cookie sheet under the pan because the chocolate overflowed a little.
For nights 2 and 3, I doubled the recipe and used a 9×13 pan — absolutely perfect!

I made this a few nights ago and it was amazing. My husband (who is normally a brownie guy) raved about it for days! The gooey-ness (in my experience) was like the texture of gravy. It was wonderful! I scooped out the brownie/cake-like part and then using a spoon I put as much of the gravy-like substance on top. – I would recommend using a bowl to serve this. Or at the very least a plate with high edges.
I think next time I’ll top the bottom layer with walnuts before putting the next layer on.

I made this super easy recipe tonight. About an hour out of the oven it was completely gone. My family loved this recipe. It will be going into our family favorites folder. The instructions were easy to follow.
Thank You for sharing this great recipe.

Hi,
This cobbler is completely delicious. I’ve made it twice now and during the second time have altered some of the ingredients and it still came out great (used whole-wheat pastry flour and sucanat). I’ll still be playing with your basic recipe and try to make it more “mine”. But I also wanted to let you know that I blogged about it on my blog (http://annasrecipebox.com/2010/11/03/chocolate-cobbler/) and cited this cite and you as the original source. Please let me know if it’s not OK to do that.
