Description

A slightly crispy and spicy molasses snickerdoodle cookie, a perfect snack on a cold day.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cups Shortening
  • 1 cup Sugar, Plus More For Rolling
  • 1  Egg
  • ¼ cups Molasses
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoons Cloves
  • ½ teaspoons Ginger
  • ½ teaspoons Salt

Preparation

Cream shortening, sugar, and egg. Add molasses and mix well. Sift dry ingredients together, and add to shortening mixture. Mix until combined.

Roll dough into small balls, and coat in sugar. Place on baking sheet and bake at 350ºF for 6-9 minutes.

Remove from baking sheet and allow to cool.

Delicious and very easy to make. The texture is fantastic; they have just the right chewy molasses cookie texture.

I haven’t made snicker doodles in ages. This is a nice twist to snicker doodles. I did a few changes halved the sugar between white and brown sugar. Halved the crisco between crisco and butter. If you do this chill the dough about 30mins. Next time I am going to just use crisco. Lovely recipe. Thank you for sharing.
