Description

A delicious and rich chocolate cake starting with a boxed cake mix. Easy and fast.

Ingredients

  • 1 box (18.25 Oz. Box) Dark Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 1 box (3.4 Oz. Box) Instant Chocolate Pudding Mix
  • 3 Tablespoons Dutch-processed Cocoa
  • 2 whole Large Eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 1-¾ cup 2% Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Almond Extract (optional)
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup Chopped Pecans

Preparation

Heat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl, add all ingredients, except the chocolate chips and pecans. Mix on low until fully combined.

Stir in the pecans and chocolate chips.

Grease a Bundt cake pan well and pour in the batter.

Bake for approximately 50 to 60 minutes. Check the cake with a toothpick at the 45-minute mark to see if done. If not, continue cooking for 5-minute intervals until the toothpick comes out clean. My oven took 45 minutes to bake this.

Once cake is done, allow the cake in the pan to cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, turn the cake out onto a cake plate and allow to cool completely. Sprinkle with some powdered sugar or serve with some fresh whipped cream.

Just made this the other day to take to a dinner party. Next time I would only add 1/2 cup of nuts or omit them- seemed like too many nuts for us, and we’re nut lovers! But otherwise the cake was delicious. It did go over my bundt pan a bit for some reason though.

I made this for my parent’s anniversary and it turned out great! I did omit the nuts, traded dutch processed cocoa for regular since I didn’t have any on hand, and used white chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.

Great way of jazzing up a cake mix. Initially the almond extract was a little off-putting, and that’s all I could taste. But once I got use to it I really liked the addition.

Very easy & tasty! I only had a 1/2 cup of pecans on hand, and I’m sure I would even dd that many next time – they got a little mushy with as moist as the cake is. I served it with fresh whipped cream & raspberries, which was delicious! Made great leftovers, especially when heated for a few seconds in the microwave!

Great recipe all around. I made this for a lunch and it was given rave reviews. Super duper easy to make too. Thanks for sharing.
