Description

These bars are super simple, but oh so yummy!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Soft Butter
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • ½ teaspoons Almond Extract
  • 2-¼ cups Flour
  • ⅛ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ cups Chopped Maraschino Cherries
  • _____
  • FOR THE GLAZE:
  • ½ cups Powdered Sugar
  • Maraschino Cherry Juice

Preparation

Cream sugar and butter. Beat in egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Stir in flour and salt, then the cherries. Chill for at least 1 hour. Pat dough into a lightly greased 15″ x 10″ jelly roll pan. Bake at 350F for 15- 18 minutes. Cool completely and drizzle with glaze.

To make the glaze, combine powdered sugar and enough cherry juice till you get the right consistency.

These are good! I did make a few minor adjustments – i didn’t chill the dough, I added 1 tsp almond extract and omitted the vanilla, and i didn’t let it cool before glazing (i’m impatient like that!). I would probably make in a slightly smaller pan next time so they would be a little thicker, but all in all i am quite happy with these! thanks for the recipe!!
