Description

This is my go-to hot fudge recipe for ice cream and brownies. It’s also a nice gift to package up for friends or family for the holidays.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cups Semisweet Chocolate Chips
  • ⅓ cups Margarine
  • ⅔ cups Sugar
  • 5 ounces, weight Low-fat Evaporated Milk (2/3 Cup)

Preparation

In saucepan, melt chocolate and margarine. Add sugar. Gradually stir in evaporated milk. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Boil gently on low heat for 8 minutes. Stir often.

This is a good fudge sauce, it has a nice consistency and was easy to make. The evaporated milk gave it a slightly evaporated milk flavor though. (I don’t know how else to describe it.)

Next time I’ll look for a recipe using real milk or cream.

As a side note though, I think the evaporated milk will make the end product more stable so it might store longer than a cream based one.
