Description

This chocolate cake makes its own fudge sauce and is simple to throw together. Really! You mix it in the same pan you bake it in.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Flour
  • ¾ cups Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ cups Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • ¼ cups Cocoa
  • 1-¾ cup Hot Tap Water

Preparation

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix first five ingredients (flour through salt) in an ungreased square 9 x 9 x 2 pan.

Mix in milk, oil and vanilla and stir with fork until smooth. Spread evenly in pan.

Sprinkle with brown sugar and 1/4 cup of cocoa. Pour the hot tap water over the top.

Bake for 40 minutes. While still warm, spoon into dishes and top with ice cream. Spoon sauce from the pan over the cake and ice cream. It’s pure heaven.

Note: To make this dairy free, simply substitute soy milk. Also, nuts may be added with the milk, if desired.

This cake is fantastic. The picture does it no justice. There is a fudgey layer that is absolutely amazing.
