Description

How to make your own delicious vanilla bean extract.

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle Vodka (500 ML Or 2 Cups)
  • 6 pieces Vanilla Beans

Preparation

Split vanilla beans down the middle, leaving one end together. Drop in a bottle of vodka and let stand for at least 8 weeks in a darkened cupboard. The darker it gets, the stronger the flavor.

Out of all the recipes I’ve seen for this… yours sounded the best. I just made it and will be back for a report in 8 weeks!
Thanks

Can this be drank as a vanilla vodka??

Easiest homemade ingredient to make ever. Why waste money ever again on expensive imitation vanilla at the store? I had to let mine steep for a bit longer than 8 weeks to really get the proper flavour, but I used really cheap brand vodka that we had received as a holiday gift, so that may have something to do with that.

I add vodka as my bottle gets low. It is still going strong! I wonder how long the beans will continue to flavor the vodka properly?
