Description

This is so good and easy!

Ingredients

  • 1 box Duncan Hines Butter Recipe Fudge Cake Mix, 18 Ounce Box
  • 4 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Water
  • ½ cups Oil
  • 1 box Vanilla Instant Pudding Mix, 3 Ounce Box
  • 8 ounces, weight Cool Whip
  • 8 ounces, weight Softened Cream Cheese
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 container Butter Cream Chocolate Frosting, 12 Ounce Tub

Preparation

Mix first five ingredients together for 2 minutes on medium speed with your mixer and then pour into two prepared 8″ round cake pans. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes (until center tests done). Cool.

Split each layer in half…giving you 4 layers. Mix rest of ingredients until fluffy. Spread the cream mixture between all of the cake layers. Top the sides and top with 1 tub of butter cream chocolate frosting.

This review is mainly for the filling and general idea of the cake, since I just followed the directions on the box for the cake portion of the recipe. (I used Pillsbury’s Triple Fudge cake mix.)

This is now our favorite cake. My husband said this is the best cake he has ever eaten – it is that good. I cannot believe how much it does take like a Ho Ho.

Thanks for sharing this recipe! I have been informed that this is now the official birthday cake of our household.

I also make cupcakes with this recipe by using a pastry bag to insert the filling.

I usually don’t bake with mixes, but this was pretty good. I made it for my brother’s birthday because he was a ho-ho addict as a kid, but won’t eat them anymore due to the fact that they contain palm oil. He is a zookeeper and doesn’t agree with it’s negative impact on apes in particular. I was able to find ingredients with no palm oil and he was very happy to get his childhood treat back. Thanks for the recipe.
