Description

Three layers of pure decadence! Kind of like a Ho-Ho, hence the name!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE CAKE:
  • 1 box Chocolate Cake Mix (18.5 Ounce Box, I Use Devil's Food Cake)
  • 1-⅓ cup Water
  • ½ cups Vegetable Oil
  • 3 whole Large Eggs
  • _____
  • FOR THE WHITE FILLING:
  • 5 Tablespoons Flour
  • 1-¼ cup Milk
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • ½ cups Shortening
  • 1 stick Softened Butter
  • _____
  • FOR THE FUDGE ICING:
  • 3 packages ( 1 Oz. Each) Pre-melted Unsweetened Baking Chocolate
  • 1-½ Tablespoon Water
  • 1 stick Softened Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 3 cups Powdered Sugar

Preparation

Prepare and bake the cake according to directions on box, using a sheet pan half or a 15x10x1 inch jelly roll pan. Bake for about 20 minutes until cake tests done. Cool.

White filling: Combine flour and milk. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until thickened. Let cool. In mixing bowl, combine sugar, shortening, and 1 stick of butter. Beat well. Add cooled flour and milk mixture and beat until light and fluffy. Spread over cooled cake and refrigerate 30 minutes.

Fudge icing: Melt chocolate in the microwave on 30-second intervals, stirring between intervals to make sure it doesn’t scorch. Beat chocolate, water, 1 stick of softened butter, vanilla, and powdered sugar together. Add more water, a teaspoon at a time, if necessary, to make a consistency that can be easily spread. Spread over white filling and refrigerate.

Assembly: Spread cooled cake with white filling and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Then, spread with fudge icing and refrigerate until ready to serve.
