No, you don’t grill the ice cream! But you DO grill the rest of this treat. If you’ve never had a grilled banana you are in for a pleasant surprise! The following recipe makes two delicious deserts for you and a loved one. Try this while camping or in the backyard!
Heat your grill to medium high if you have a top rack, or medium low and use a tray if you are going to put these directly over the flame.
Lay out 2 sheets of foil that are large enough to wrap each banana. Split each banana in half lengthwise and place each on a foil sheet. Divide the chocolate chips and mini marshmallows between the bananas in rows.
Fold the banana together and wrap it in foil, crimping the foil at the top. (This makes it easier to open later.)
Grill for 10 minutes. Then remove it from the grill onto a platter. Open the foil package and slide the banana out into a serving dish. Top with ice cream. I used 3 scoops per banana.
Nancy is the Coupon Clipping Cook, which means she not only has an astounding number of recipes to share with us (her TK recipe box is busting at the seams!) but she's also got loads of money-saving tips in her blog (she worked at a grocery store for a number of years, so she knows her stuff). She has some pretty amazing creations, like Roasted Garlic Potato Soup and Nutty Coconut Chicken. Go check them out!
Heather is a Texas native and the blogger behind Heather's Dish. She's mom to Weston, wife to Nate, and they live in Little Rock, Arkansas with their two "stubborn and saucy" dogs Bunker and Keira. In her blog, she shares her photographs, random musings (serious and silly alike), and all kinds of scrumptious recipes---and not just evil variations of her favorite mac and cheese. Her enviable TK recipe box is a testament to that. Go see for yourself!
