Description

Most kids like the sugar cookies with vanilla…not me! I loved Grandma Mac’s sugar cookies she made with lemon!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1-½ teaspoon Lemon Extract
  • 3 cups Flour
  • 3 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt

Preparation

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and lemon extract, then the dry ingredients. Mix well.

Shape into long rolls and wrap in plastic wrap then refrigerate for at least an hour.

Slice and sprinkle with sugar or roll out and cut. Bake in a 375F oven for 8 minutes.

Decorate as regular sugar cookies if you’d like.

I just made this recipe. They have to be the best sugar cookies I’ve made so far!! However, i made those with two 5 years old girls and I didnt refrigerate at all. I added a bit more flour until i could roll dough into balls and press down with a fork . They turned out perfectly!!! I will be making those often!

funny you should refer your grandma McDonald to grandma Mac. That is what we call my grandma McDonald and what my kids call my mother. My mom makes some killer sugar cookies as well, but nothing like this recipe. Definately going to have to try this one out!
