Description

This can be easily adapted to any fruit.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Sugar, Divided
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter, Melted
  • ½ cups Milk
  • 2 cups Canned Or Fresh Fruit (See Note)
  • ½ cups Hot Water

Preparation

Sift together the flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, salt and baking powder. Combine the melted butter with the milk, then pour into the flour mixture and stir until it’s moist then set aside.

Grease a 9″ square baking dish and place the fruit in the bottom. Cover the fruit with the mixture of milk and flour, then sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar all over the top. Pour the hot water over the dough and sugar.

Bake for 45 minutes at 325 degrees. Check for doneness with a toothpick or knife inserted into the dough.

Note: Up to 4 cups of fruit can be used; it just depends on what fruit you’re using!

Excellent basic cobbler recipe. I made it with pears last night. Used a bit less sugar since they were quite ripe and added 1/4 tsp almond extract to the batter. Will definitely be trying this with different fruits.
