Description

Easy and delicious. Add a scoop of your favorite vanilla ice cream to top it off!

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks Butter
  • 1-½ cup Flour
  • 3 cups Sugar
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder (heaping Teaspoons)
  • 1-⅓ cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • Ground Nutmeg (optional)
  • 3 cups Fruit (Blackberries, Peaches, Apricots, Apples, Pears, Raspberries Or Blueberries) Fresh Or Frozen

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Melt butter in a 3-quart baking dish.

Combine flour, 2 cups of sugar, salt and baking powder. Stir into the melted butter in the baking dish. Add milk and vanilla. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Stir again.

Mix fruit and remaining 1 cup of sugar and bring to a boil. As soon as it boils, take off heat and pour over the batter. Don’t stir.

Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.

Makes 6-8 servings.

Well, they say timing is everything. LOL! I printed this recipe about 5 days ago and made it last night. Unfortunately, that was before you amended/edited the preparation section to separate out the 3 cups of sugar. ;)

Now, it was ALL my fault but I mis-read the recipe and added all 3 cups of sugar in during the first step. SO, I went ahead and boiled the blackberries with a Tbs of water and then added it to the mixture.

I had to bake it an extra 45 min and it was still very gooey, but oh the taste! It was delicious. My son ate half of it in one sitting and kept telling me it was perfect. LOL — I will definitely try this again and prepare it correctly. Thanks for a great recipe.
